Children’s feature film »My Grandpa Is an Alien« by Dražen Žarković and Marina Andree Škop, will have its premiere on September 7th at Kinodvor. It is a story about an extraordinary adventure of a girl and an alien robot on a mission to save her partly alien family. While still in development, »My Grandpa Is an Alien« got a BeActive Award for Best Scripted Content and a Prime4Kids&Family Award for the Best Children’s Project.
The film, which is a fantasy adventure for audience aged 7 to 12 and their parents, starts its distribution across Slovenian cinemas on September 12th.
With the film’s release, an educational material consisting of a teacher’s manual and short videos, focusing on different backgrounds of how films are made, was also prepared.
“My Grandpa Is an Alien” won a Golden Arena for both Best Cinematography and Best Visual Effects at this year’s Pula Film Festival, and was awarded with Best Film award at La Paz International Film Festival in Bolivia. At the SciFi Festival in Sydney, Australia, Lana Hranjec received an award for Best Female Actress.
The film was produced by a Croatian Studio dim, in collaboration with co-producing partners from six other European countries – Slovakia, Slovenia (SENCA studio), Norway, Luxemburg, the Czech Republic and Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was financed by Croatian Audiovisual Centre, CE MEDIA Programme, Film Fund Luxembourg, Norwegian Film Institute (NFI), Filminvest3, State Fund for the Support and Development of Czech Cinematography, Slovak Audiovisual Fund, Slovenian Film Centre, Film Fund Sarajevo and Croatian Radiotelevision.
