SYNOPSIS
Peter vs. Harry is a one-hour documentary portrait of the German versatile artist Peter Braatz living in Ljubljana.
The film primarily focuses on the presentation of his film and music oeuvre, and through his narration we also learn how his artistic journey took place, which was always closely connected with music. The turning point was the meeting with punk and the founding of the punk band S.Y.P.H., which is still considered a cult German band today. The need for artistic expression then led him to film and to study film direction at the Berlin Film Academy DFFB. After his marriage to Maja Weiss, he moved to Slovenia, where he still persists in his cinematic expression, although it was never really understood, which always resulted in both a lack of recognition and constant financial insecurity.
His colleagues, friends, and family talk about him and his creative work: activist and filmmaker Tomo Križnar, musician Chris Eckman, wife and director Maja Weiss, businessman and musician Andrija Pušić, doctor and photographer Alexander Pečnik, photographer Žiga Koritnik, professor of painting Milan Ericič and Peter’s children August, also a director and musician, and Larissa.
Peter Braatz is the author of more than 70 film works of various lengths and genres, excluding feature films. With the group S.Y.P.H. has released 14 albums, two more independently.
