The Croatian children’s film “My grandfather fell from Mars” is being filmed in Brežice.

The film is produced by the Croatian production company STUDIO DIM and co-produced by the Slovenian SENCA STUDIO, the Luxembourgish WADY FILMS, the Norwegian FILMBIN, the Czech MASTERFILM, the Slovak ARTILERIE and the Bosnian FABRICA.

“Through the friendship of a girl and a space robot, the film tells about the life-giving power of love. Especially in today’s time, which promotes individualism, it is important to encourage young people to nurture friendships, companionship and love, as these are values that will always enrich our lives”, said the film’s director, Dražen Žarković, who, among other things, directed one of the most successful Croatian children’s films “Skrivnostni deček” (Mysterious Boy) and Marina Andree Škop, also the creative producer of the successful children’s TV show “Laboratory at the End of the Universe”.

Slovenian authors Sven Pepeonik as director of photography and Mojca Gorogranc Petrushevska as mask designer are participating in the filming of the film, while young up-and-coming actresses Eneja Sajko and Bernard Rebernik also appear in parallel roles.

Part of the filming also took place in Brežice, which proved to be a very hospitable film town, for which the film team would like to especially thank the mayor, the municipal administration’s department for communal infrastructure and public services, and all the local residents.

The film is being made with the financial support of the Slovenian Film Center and the support of all the film centers of the above-mentioned countries, the European Media program, the Croatian public television HRT and many sponsors, including the Municipality of Brežice. The film will be shown in 2019.
